Drawing 1 Hybrid night class ~ Obama drawings ~

My Students did a portrait of Obama from one photo I gave them... It's not an easy task! 90% of my students hardly ever drew before taking the class, and all students are required to take at least one art class...
They of course struggled to re-create his expression ( it takes a lot of practice to be able to do so) but I helped them focus more on the re-presentation of the values (shading). If you create some "simple" shading --one black/ a dark grey / a medium grey/ a light grey/ and the white from the paper (only four values), you can re-create the illusion of volume of anything on the flat surface of the paper and succeed in creating something worth looking at, and that we can enjoy...
